Oktober Fest continues this weekend at Deutsches Haus.

It's the final weekend of Deutsches Haus' OKTOBERFEST, the Bavarian celebration of fall with brews, brats, bands and maybe a chicken dance or two. There's a daily masskrugstemmen (beer stein holding contest) and schnitzelbank (audience participation in a funny German song) plus live music from Holy Schnitzel and Johnny Koenig and The Brats. Besides the brats (to eat), there will be sauerkraut, cheeses, pretzels and desserts. And to keep things flowing, there are more than 20 different German beers and wines and more than 20 different schnapps. Wunderbar! Admission to the haus, at 1700 Moss St. in New Orleans, is $15. The fun runs Friday 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Get in on the fun here. Schnell!

Nosferatu

One of the creepiest versions in the Dracula canon is the 1922 silent film that gets a real shot of the "undead" treatment with a "live" ensemble providing an improvised score for "NOSFERATU: A SYMPHONY OF HORROR" Friday at The Broadside at 8 p.m. The showing of German director F.W. Murnau's cult classic will feature the musical talents of Brian Haas, Helen Gillet, James Singleton, James Evans and Otto Schrang at the 600 N. Broad St. location. Tickets are $20. Be spellbound by the terror here.

Symphony Chorus music director Steven Edwards leads a recent rehearsal.
